Preventure Training in Canada

4Garrett is sending three local therapists to Montreal Canada for training in the PreVenture Curriculum. Founder, Leigh Anne Johnson and two other local therapists will attend training with the program’s developer, Dr. Patricia Conrad in June.  The team will return to the states and begin offering the program to local schools.  The program identifies positive coping skills needed for 4 different personality types.  Providing students with these evidence based coping skills has shown to significantly decrease alcohol and drug use as well as mental health issues related to depression and anxiety.  Preventure is listed in SAMHSA’s Registry of Evidence-based Programs & Practices and has shown significant impacts over at least 2 years following the program.

The therapists attending this training include:

Bren Tally

Bren is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and operates a private practice in Leawood, Kansas. Her experience includes working with couples and families and has a strong passion for adolescents and young adults. Her working models of therapy are grounded in the fundamental premise of systems theory, including Attachment, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Internal Family Systems. Bren's training was completed at Friends University with a Master of Science in Family Therapy. She has served as a member of two educational boards and volunteers in the area of Congregational Care at the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection. Her free time is spent with her husband and young adult children traveling to Lake Michigan, biking/spinning, and continuing her love of learning through books, experiences and people!
